The debut release from Leicester based newcomer CJ Pandit is an artistic piece of indie pop. Released alongside a zine and photography exhibition, ‘Karelu’ is a demonstration of the vision this young artist has. The track is filled with thudding percussion and a soulful vocal performance before it explodes out into a catchy pop chorus. Hints of Bon Iver and Ben Howard are present, but there is an added layer that brings this project to an even more interesting place. On the track, he states that it “is centred around appreciating past relationships, friendships and family dynamics with all their flaws, and moving forward and seeing beauty in the toughest of times”. - Dan Peeke
